Exploring Microbes for Health and Innovation

The Microbiology Programme at University on the Niger provides students with the scientific foundation and practical skills needed to explore the microbial world and its impact on health, industry, and the environment. Microorganisms play crucial roles in human disease, biotechnology, food production, and ecosystem stability, making microbiology central to many global challenges.

Our curriculum blends core microbiology with advanced laboratory techniques, molecular diagnostics, bioinformatics, and innovations in industrial and environmental microbiology. Students learn to detect, analyze, and manage microbial threats such as infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

Through modern laboratories, research projects, and expert mentorship, we prepare graduates to apply microbiological knowledge in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and environmental management. Our programme aims to cultivate problem-solvers and innovators who will advance scientific understanding, improve public health, and harness microbial processes for the benefit of society.

"At the Heart of Our Approach Lies Collaboration,
and Support Enabling Us to Achieve Optimal
Results for Our Students."
